There are a range of sport and leisure activities to take part in during your stay at No.10 Queens Drive. For the golfing enthusiast there are numerous courses nearby to choose from or if it’s a more leisurely stroll you’re after, there is a range of local parks within a close proximity.
Within a ten mile radius there are a number of golf courses to suit players of all levels. If you’re looking for a challenging round, then the parkland courses of East Renfrewshire Golf Club, Williamwood Golf Club and Haggs Castle offer an exciting test of golf. The local municipal courses at Torrance House and Deacon’s Bank Golf Club also offer a very enjoyable and affordable day of golf. The central location of No.10 Queens Drive makes travel to golf courses throughout Scotland very accessible. Within travelling distance by road, are the world famous courses at Gleneagles and Turnberry (1 hr 30 mins drive), Royal Troon (45 mins) and Loch Lomond (55 mins), where until 2010 the Scottish Open was held.
Scotland’s world-renowned national stadium, Hampden Park, is a short walk from the hotel. Attend a game at Hampden to experience the famous Hampden Roar, or visit the Scottish Football Museum at Hampden and walk amongst Scotland’s footballing legends in the Hall of Fame. A Walk in the Park
Glasgow is Gaelic for ‘dear green place’ and the number of parks throughout the city doesn’t disappoint – there is an array of green spaces in which to enjoy a relaxing stroll or a more energetic cycle ride or jog. Visit the Glasshouse in Queens Park, directly opposite No.10 Queens Drive, to view its collection of reptiles and sub-tropical plants, get breathtaking views of the city from the viewing platform, or enjoy a game of tennis or bowls during the summer season.
Rouken Glen Park is a short ten minute drive from the hotel, which is also accessible via local transport links. The park features picturesque woodland walks, waterfall, boating pond, putting green, play area, walled garden, picnic facilities and an on-site restaurant for dinner or lunch. There is also a large garden centre providing something for every green fingered visitor. This park is ideal for families, with a range of activities to suit everyone.
If you’re feeling more adventurous there are three individual mountain bike circuits at the nearby Pollok Country Park. Bikes can be hired at the local bike hire shop. If you’re a mountain biking enthusiast, ask hotel staff for more details.
Health and Fitness
If you feel in need of a workout during your stay, there are a number of Health and Fitness Clubs nearby. Holyrood Sports Centre is only a five minute walk from the hotel. Top class facilities include open plan fitness suites, pool, extensive fitness class timetables and sports halls, which can be booked for group activities such as volleyball and badminton.
The Fitness First Health Club further down Cathcart Road has full gym facilities for a stress-busting workout and a beauty room, sauna and steam room for a more relaxing experience.
Alternatively, Greens Health and Fitness in the suburb of Giffnock provides state of the art facilities and restaurant for lunch or afternoon coffee.
